West Virginia Defensive Back Enters the Transfer Portal

The West Virginia secondary loses cornerback to the NCAA Transfer Portal

On Wednesday, West Virginia defensive back Jaylon Shelton announced his intentions to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. 

"First and foremost, I want to thank the man above for blessing me with the opportunity to play college football at the highest level," said in a post on social media. "I also want to thank coach Mike [Joseph] and his coaching staff for developing me at a high level. After talking to my family and having time to sit back and think, I will be entering my name in the transfer portal with three years of eligibility."

Shelton played two seasons at Tyler Junior College before he committed to WVU last spring, choosing the Mountaineers over TCU. The redshirt junior also held offers from Middle Tennessee, Louisiana Tech, Indiana, Eastern Kentucky, Austin Peay, Stephen F. Austin, Prairie View A&M, and Northern Alabama.

The New London, Texas, native appeared in one game (Texas Tech) last season for the Mountaineers.
