The Mountaineers are not only struggling, they are doing so shorthanded. A team that is severely young and inexperienced is now having to deal with even more problems - the injury bug.

The injuries have started to pile up over the last few weeks and that list became even longer on Thursday night as the Mountaineers limped out of Waco. Despite all the injuries, West Virginia took the No. 12 Baylor Bears down to the wire only losing by a field goal. "We didn't get beat, we just ran out of time," Neal Brown said.

This afternoon, coach Brown gave a detailed update on the team's long list of injuries.

"Kennedy McKoy and Noah Guzman left the game on Thursday, I think they're questionable. We will see as the week progresses, but I am hopeful that both of them will play. [Quondarius] Qualls had surgery and he'll be out for the year. Josh Chandler is questionable, he'll build up today and work throughout the week and we'll see how that goes. [Evan] Staley missed the game on Thursday night, he'll be questionable again. T.J. Simmons left the game late in the first quarter, I'll say he's doubtful for the game, I'm not saying he's out yet but he's doubtful. Sean Ryan will be out this week, but I think he's getting real close - he's just not ready for contact yet. [Chase] Behrndt left the game in the 2nd quarter, we'll see how he progresses this week. Jovani Haskins should be back, he did not play Thursday night. He's had kind of a core muscle injury and he hasn't been able to run. And Dreshun Miller is improving, but he will not go this week. I think he'll be back at some point this year but he's not available this week."

A multitude of players will be labeled questionable this week as Brown stated, so expect the next update to come on the Neal Brown show on Thursday night. With starting running back Kennedy McKoy's status up in the air, Brown said that true freshman Tony Mathis will see some playing time.
