Zach Frazier Provides Update on Injury

No. 54 begins his road to recovery.

It was a bittersweet ending to West Virginia offensive lineman Zach Frazier's collegiate career. It ended in pain, but for a second, he ignored it to help his team win the regular season finale over Baylor.

On the game-winning drive, wide receiver Hudson Clement got wrapped up short of the first down marker. Frazier, who injured his leg on the play, picked Clement up and carried him across the chains for a first down, stopping the clock. As soon as the play ended, Frazier recognized he couldn't go down to the ground or it would cost the Mountaineers more time. He hobbled off and Brandon Yates stepped right in his spot the rest of the way.

Following the game, head coach Neal Brown told the media that it was a pretty significant injury and that he will probably not play in the team's bowl game.

“This is how smart he is and how tough he is. He limps off because he knows that's a 10-second runoff… I think that speaks to his intelligence. how tough he is, and he's a great player.

“I can’t say enough about Zack Frazier. So appreciative of him and his family, and I think one play sums up who he is for his entire career. And I just hope our fan base really understands the young man from Fairmont, I think he's the best center in college football.”

Tuesday evening, Frazier gave an update on the injury.
