Defensive Helmet Stickers: Week 4
The defense played a crucial role in the Mountaineers 29-24 win against Kansas. Just like the JMU game, West Virginia was able to overcome being outgained in total yards to remain victorious.
West Virginia’s defense won the turnover battle 2-0 with an interception and fumble recovery. Time of possession was a key factor in the game as WVU had the ball for 37:41 while the Jayhawks only had the ball for 22:19. This was assisted by the Mountaineer defense holding Kansas to 4 for 10 on third down attempts.
Here are this weeks helmet sticker winners:
Josh Norwood
Norwood led the team with 11 tackles. He seemed to be all over the field and made several hard hits throughout the game. He’s been waiting a couple weeks to get quality game action as he was ejected last week against NC State early in the game for targeting. His impact was known all over the field.
Josh Chandler
Chandler finished the game with 8 tackles, 0.5 TFL’s, and one fumble recovery. He has been racking up the tackles throughout the season and has proved to be an impact player on this defense. He has received helmet stickers on multiple occasions through the first 4 games.
Keith Washington
Washington finished the game with one tackle, one pass defended, and one highlight-reel interception. The interception really changed the game and was a major key in the Mountaineer victory. He tipped the ball and was able to make a diving catch bringing in the interception.
