The defense played a big role in West Virginia’s victory only giving up 13 points on the day. The whole defensive unit might deserve a helmet sticker, but we’re going to focus on these 3 performances.

Josh Chandler

The sophomore seemed to be all over the field for the Mountaineer defense. Chandler led the team with 14 total tackles, 9 of which were solo. His 14 tackles puts him as the tackling leader in the entire Big 12 Conference after week one.

Darius Stills

Stills made a huge impact for the Mountaineers putting himself all over the stat sheet. He finished the game with 6 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for loss, and a big-time field goal block.

Keith Washington

Washington’s interception might have been the play of the game. It set up a touchdown three plays later giving WVU a 20-10 lead and gave fans a sigh of relief for the first time of the day. The senior also finished with two solo tackles.
