A New Name in the Portal for WVU Fans to Watch

West Virginia is heavily pursuing secondary help.

Since the transfer portal window opened, it has become very clear that West Virginia is heavily interested in adding to its secondary. The latest offer has been sent out to former Rhode Island defensive back Antonio Carter.

Carter is already a hot commodity in the transfer portal receiving interest from the likes of Baylor, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Middle Tennessee State, Minnesota, Oregon State, SMU, Texas A&M, UNLV, Utah State, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.

At this time, Carter tells Mountaineers Now that he does not have a visit scheduled to West Virginia but he and the coaching staff are in conversations about getting one set up. With Carter officially entering the portal on Sunday, he will continue to field interest before setting visits.

In two years at Rhode Island, Carter totaled 105 tackles, 17 pass breakups, 5.5 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, two sacks, and one interception.

He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
