WVU Ranks in 'Bottom 25' Rankings by CBS Sports

West Virginia has hit a new low under Neal Brown.

Just when you think things couldn't possibly get worse for Neal Brown and the Mountaineers, they continue to find ways to hit a new low.

In a recent article by David Cobb of CBS Sports, West Virginia is featured in what is considered the "bottom 25" of college football, checking in at No. 16. The only teams they rank higher than? San Jose State, Coastal Carolina, Indiana, Virginia, UMass, Hawai'i, Florida International, Old Dominion, and Northwestern.

"The Mountaineers refused to take downfield shots in their 38-15 Week 1 loss at Penn State. If some perimeter playmakers don't emerge for WVU, this team could flirt with Bottom 25 status all year, which is the last thing embattled coach Neal Brown needs."

Fortunately for Neal Brown, the Mountaineers host the Duquesne Dukes out of the FCS this week. This is a week where they must get things cleaned up as the Backyard Brawl looms followed by the nine-game Big 12 slate. Brown holds a 22-26 record through four-plus seasons at the helm and if he fails to coach this team to a bowl appearance, it could be his last season as the header in Morgantown.
