BREAKING: WVU RB Tony Mathis Enters Transfer Portal

The Mountaineers lose one of their top backs.

It's the biggest hit yet. West Virginia running back Tony Mathis Jr. announced that he has entered the transfer portal.

In four seasons at West Virginia, Mathis totaled 943 yards and six touchdowns on 229 carries. In 2022, Mathis led the Mountaineers in rushing with 562 yards on 135 carries. With the emergence of CJ Donaldson (beginning of the year) and Jaylen Anderson (end of the year), plus Justin Johnson Jr. and incoming freshmen Jahiem White and DJ Oliver, it became a very crowded room quickly.

Mathis will have two years of eligibility remaining.
