A Wild Day on Twitter Has Rasul Douglas at the Center of Aaron Rodgers's Decision
TheΒ one decision everyone is impatiently waiting for this NFL offseason is that of Green Bay Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.Β
For the second straight offseason, uncertainty surrounding his future has crept deep into March as he weighs his options. This year, he is deciding between returning to Green Bay, being traded to the New York Jets, or hanging it up and riding off into retirement.
Recently, Rodgers went on a four-day darkness retreat in Oregon to take some time to be by himself, relax following a long season, and potentially settle on a decision in regard to his future.Β
Late Monday night, a tweet was posted from Rodgers's Twitter account breaking a near month and a half long silence on the app.Β
The tweet sent everyone into a spiral trying to figure out what this meant and if it had anything to do with his decision in any way whatsoever. As some West Virginia football fans know, "Sul" is a nickname that Rasul Douglas goes by. Earlier in the day, Douglas posted on his account that Rodgers gave him his phone when he went on his darkness retreat, but no one believed him.Β
Fans have of both the Packers and Jets have been tagging Rasul in tweets constantly asking him to DM (direct message) them to give them insight on what Aaron will do. It's even got to the point where people are bribing him with money and donuts to jump ahead of the line in the list of people he's responding to. Okay, not really bribing him, but he is showing his sense of humor by apparently responding to those who send funny GIFs.
Despite hours of "responding" to people, no one believed that he is actually in possession of Aaron's phone. So the "SUUUUUL" tweet that got everyone riled up can be traced back to this fan asking him to tweet something off Aaron's account to prove that he's telling the truth.
Although Rasul won't be breaking the news, he is having fun with NFL fans in the meantime, keeping them on their toes.
So, what do you think? Was it Rasul who made the initial tweet? Or did A-Rod get his phone back and is now joining in on the fun?
