Alek Manoah Set to Make Return to the Big Leagues
Alek Manoah is getting the call to the big leagues (again). According to Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider, Manoah will be getting the start on Friday against the Detroit Tigers.
After a miserable start to the season, the Blue Jays sent the 2022 Cy Young finalist down to the Florida Complex League to fix some things with his mechanics and to help him get back on track mentally.
He only had one start in the FCL and it was a rough one to say the least. Manoah allowed eleven runs on ten hits (two homers) in 2.2 innings pitched against a lineup that mainly consists of 17 and 18 year olds.
Despite the poor outing, they bumped him up to Double-A New Hampshire where he appeared to have took a big step in the right direction striking out ten hitters and allowing just one run in five innings of work.
On the season, Manoah has a 1-7 record with an ERA of 6.36. He's already walked 42 batters this season which is two more than he issued in 20 starts as a rookie and just nine short of what he allowed in 31 starts a year ago.
