Blue Jays Send Manoah Back to the Minors
The Toronto Blue Jays have optioned right-handed pitcher Alek Manoah to Triple-A Buffalo after struggling in his return to the bigs.
In his six starts since his return, Manoah has allowed 16 earned runs in 28.2 innings of work. Yesterday, he allowed four runs on four hits in just four frames. One of the several issues that continues to plague Manoah is his inability to throw strikes. He's pitching deep into counts thus resulting in early exits from games due to his pitch count creeping into the 90s.
Just a season ago, Manoah posted a 2.24 ERA and owned a 16-7 record in 31 starts. He was named a Cy Young finalist at the end of the season, finishing third in the voting behind Justin Verlander and Dylan Cease.
