Deuce will Remain with the Knicks
On Thursday, The New York Knicks picked up the $1.8 million contract option on former West Virginia guard Miles "Deuce" McBride for the 2023-24 season.
McBride made 64 appearances last season with a pair of starts, averaging 3.5 points and 1.1 assists per game including scoring a career-high 18 points versus Portland on March 14. He also appeared in one game for the Knicks G-League affiliate Winchester where he produced 28 points behind 42.9% from three-point range in 34 minutes of action.
The Cincinnati native was drafted in the second round (36th overall) of the 2021 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks.
McBride appeared in 40 games his rookie season and eight appearances with Winchester.
McBride has been a solid defender at the NBA level but has struggled finding consistency on the offensive end, shooting 33.7% from the field, including 28.2% from behind the arc for his career, averaging 3.0 points ppg.
In his final season at WVU, he led the Mountaineers in scoring (15.8 ppg), assists (4.9), steals (1.9), and three-point percentage (41.4%), earning Second Team All-Big 12 and an AP All-American Honorable Mention selection.
He became the 35th draft pick out of West Virginia and the first Mountaineer to be selected in the NBA Draft since Jevon Carter in 2018.
