Geno Smith Earns Spot in NFL's Top 100 Players
The underdog story just keeps getting better. Who would have thought that Geno Smith, a career backup who some thought was in the final years of his career, would be viewed as a top-100 player in the NFL?
Well, it's happened. Smith was tabbed the 72nd-best player in the league, as voted on by his peers.
After finally getting his second chance to be a starter in the league, he proved that he has a lot left in the tank and probably should have been awarded that second chance a long time ago. Smith threw for a franchise record 4,282 yards and 30 touchdowns to go along with an NFL-best 69.8% completion percentage.
This offseason, there was some chatter that the Seahawks would draft a quarterback with one of their two first round selections, but they took a corner and receiver instead. Seattle showed their commitment to Geno by awarding him the keys to the franchise for the foreseeable future with a three-year deal worth up to $105 million.
