Grier Inks Deal with the New England Patriots

Former West Virginia quarterback Will Grier signs with the New England Patriots

Thursday afternoon, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported former West Virginia University quarterback Will Grier has signed to the active roster of the New England Patriots.

Grier spent the last seasons with the Dallas Cowboys and was third on the depth chart after spending his first three seasons with the Carolina Panthers. 

In the Cowboys' final game of the 2023 preseason, Grier tossed for 305 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing for 53 yards and a pair of touchdowns, finishing the 2023 preseason slate with 640 yards and four touchdowns in three appearances.

Grier signed with the Cowboys in September of 2021 and has been third on the depth chart during his time in Dallas. 

The Cowboys traded for 49ers quarterback Trey Lance prior to the final preseason game and released Grier the following afternoon before the Cincinnati Bengals claimed Grier the next day. 

Grier was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the 2019 NFL Draft. He made two appearances in his rookie season and threw for 228 yards.
