Happy Birthday, Tavon Austin!

The former Mountaineer star turns 33.

Tavon Austin, one of the most legendary athletes to ever suit up for the Old Gold and Blue, turns 33 today.

This past fall, Austin was recognized for his stellar career by being inducted into the WVU Sports Hall of Fame, joining his fellow teammates, Geno Smith, and Stedman Bailey.

Austin broke several records during his time in Morgantown including the following for a career: receptions (288), receiving yards (3,413), kick return yards (2,407), and kick return touchdowns (4). Despite being a receiver, he also has the most rushing yards in a single game (344), which occurred during his senior season against Oklahoma, a game in which he totaled 572 all-purpose yards.

Austin also ranks second in career touchdown receptions (29), season touchdown receptions (12), and 100-yard games (13).

Following his time at WVU, Austin would be selected 7th overall by the St. Louis Rams in the 2013 NFL Draft. He spent the first five years of his career with the Rams before being traded to the Dallas Cowboys in 2018, where he spent two seasons. Since, he has bounced around the league playing for San Francisco, Green Bay, Jacksonville, and Buffalo.

For his career, Austin has hauled in 244 receptions for 2,239 yards, and 16 touchdowns and has rushed for 1,361 yards and 10 scores on 199 carries.
