Joe Mazzulla Makes NBA History

Talk about a red-hot start to an NBA career...

Tuesday night, the Boston Celtics blew out the Chicago Bulls, 124-97, in the NBA In-Season Tournament. With that win, Joe Mazzulla made history by having the best winning percentage (.710) of any NBA head coach.

Phil Jackson (.704), Billy Cunningham (.698), Larry Bird (.687), David Blatt (.675), and K.C. Jones (.674) are just a few notable names that he has surpassed.

Last season, the former Mountaineer went 57-25 in his first year on the job, marking the second-most wins by a rookie head coach in Celtics history. Bill Russell holds the record with 60 wins in the 1966-67 season. This year, Mazzulla has coached the Celtics to a 14-4 record, which is the best record in the NBA.
