It's trade deadline day in Major League Baseball and we've got a Mountaineer on the move. The San Diego Padres are trading former WVU pitcher Jackson Wolf, OF Estuar Suero, and 1B Alfonso Rivas to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for first baseman Ji-Man Choi and left-handed pitcher Rich Hill.

Wolf, 24, made his Major League debut earlier this month against the Detroit Tigers and gave up three runs on six hits in five innings.

Wolf bypassed Triple-A ball and made the leap from the San Diego Padres' Double-A affiliate, the San Antonio Missions, where he made 17 appearances and held a 3.39 ERA with 104 strikeouts.

Jackson was selected in the fourth round (129th overall) of the 2021 Major League Baseball Draft. It is unknown at this time if Wolf will join the Pirates' rotation or if he will be assigned to Triple-A Indianapolis.
