Panthers Make Decision on Former WVU WR Gary Jennings
Saturday morning, the Carolina Panthers made their first wave of cuts, releasing eleven players from the roster. Among those released was former West Virginia wide receiver Gary Jennings.
Jennings had an uphill battle in terms of making the Panthers 53-man roster. The room may not have a clear-cut top two or three, but it's a room that features quality depth and a lot of upside.
Jennings did, however, make an impression on the coaching staff reeling in a tough 20-yard touchdown catch in the team's second preseason game against the Giants and then leading the team in receiving with four receptions and 52 yards in the preseason finale Friday night against Detroit.
Head coach Frank Reich mentioned earlier in the week that he loves Jennings' speed and work ethic, so it wouldn't be all that surprising to see him back with Carolina on the practice squad to begin the 2023 season.
