Tavon Austin is Heading to the XFL
After receiving little interest in free agency, former West Virginia wide receiver Tavon Austin is stepping away from the NFL (momentarily) and is headed to the XFL. According to multiple reports, Austin has signed a deal with the Houston Roughnecks.
He spent last season with the Buffalo Bills on the practice squad and before that, he put up the best receiving numbers in four years with the Jacksonville Jaguars totaling 24 receptions for 213 yards and a touchdown.
Despite being a top-10 pick by the then St. Louis Rams in 2013, Austin has struggled to find a home in the NFL and one where he can produce at a high level. Over his nine-year career in the NFL, Austin has bounced from the Rams to the Cowboys, 49ers, Packers, Jaguars, and Bills.
Hopefully a brief stint in the XFL will get Austin back on track and allow him to finish his career back in the NFL with a chance to actually contribute.
