WATCH: Mario Alford Ties Franchise Record With Punt Return TD
Mario Alford has returned another punt for a touchdown. Saturday evening, the former West Virginia wide receiver tied Corey Holmes for the Saskatchewan Roughriders franchise record of five touchdown returns.
Alford spent two years at West Virginia (2013-14) where he helped form a dynamic duo with first-round pick, Kevin White. During his time as a Mountaineer, Alford hauled in 92 receptions for 1,497 yards and 13 touchdowns, averaging 16.3 yards per catch.
He bounced around the NFL for a bit, spending time with the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns, and Chicago Bears. Alford did appear in four career games (three with Cleveland and one with Cincinnati) returning eight punts for 68 yards and making one catch for 15 yards.
