Will Grier Tosses Two Touchdowns in Cowboys' Preseason-Opener
The Dallas Cowboys hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars in their preseason opener Saturday night in a 28-23 loss.
Former West Virginia quarterback Will Grier orchestrated all four of the Cowboys’ scoring drives on the night and tossed for a game-high 199 yards on 22-31 passing with a pair of touchdowns.
Grier had a sluggish start to the evening, ending his first two drives with a three and out but quickly redeemed himself.
On his third series, Grier avoided another three and out with a 14-yard scamper. Twice the Cowboys converted on fourth down, highlighted by a 15-yard pass to KaVontae Turpin. Grier was 5-9 for 71 yards on the drive and capped it off with a 17-yard touchdown pass to Jalen Talbort.
The Jaguars fumbled at their own 26 in the final minutes of the game. It took seven plays to find the endzone and facing a fourth and 11 on the Jaguars 15-yard line, Grier connected with John Stephens Jr. over the middle for a 15-yard touchdown.
Grier and the Cowboys will head to the northwest and face the Seattle Seahawks Saturday night with kickoff set for 10:00 p.m. EST and broadcasting on the NFL Network.
