Wolf Scheduled to Start for the Padres

Jackson Wolf is set to make his MLB debut against the Detroit Tigers

Former West Virginia University hurler Jackson Wolf is making his MLB debut Saturday night and will get the start in Detroit against the Tigers, with the first pitch set for 6:10.

Jackson is bypassing triple-A ball and makes the leap from the San Diego Padres double A affiliate, the San Antonio Missions, where he's made 17 appearances and holds a 3.39 ERA with 104 strikeouts.

Jackson was selected in the fourth round (129th overall) of the 2021 Major League Baseball Draft.

The Gahanna, OH, native developed into the Mountaineers ace as a junior, going 3-1 with a 1.05 ERA, striking out 27 in a team-high 25.2 innings of work and allowed just 14 hits and three earned runs in a shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a senior, he led the Mountaineers with 104 strikeouts in a team-high 89.0 innings of work while carrying a 3.04 ERA. He ended his West Virginia career off with an upset win over No. 2 Texas, allowing just one run in a complete game of the Big 12 Conference Tournament quarterfinals.
