WVU Football in the NFL: Where Are They in 2023?

Your guide for how to follow former Mountaineers this season.

As of today, there are 19 former West Virginia Mountaineers across 13 NFL rosters. A handful of others could make their way onto one by the end of training camp/preseason.

Below is a team-by-team breakdown of where those 19 Mountaineers are playing this season.

Arizona Cardinals: DT Dante Stills, LB Kyzir White

White will be one of the veteran voices on what is a very young Arizona team. He is slated to start at MIKE linebacker while Dante Stills will have to fight for a roster spot and then a role within the defense.

Baltimore Ravens: CB Daryl Worley

Worley was primarily used on special teams last season for the Ravens and will almost certainly assume the same role in 2023.

Carolina Panthers: WR Gary Jennings

The Panthers don't have a star-studded receiver group, but they have a bunch of guys who can be pretty good. Jennings is on the outside looking in, but will have a chance to stick on the practice squad with a good month of August.

Cleveland Browns: LB Tony Fields II

Fields will back up Sione Takitaki at the SAM linebacker spot, however, he will get a nice percentage of reps. Last season he totaled 48 tackles in 17 games (six starts).

Dallas Cowboys: QB Will Grier

Grier will continue to fight for the backup job to Dak Prescott, but will likely land as the No. 3 behind Cooper Rush.

Green Bay Packers: CB Rasul Douglas

Douglas followed up his inspirational season with the best year of his career. He posted career highs in tackles (85) and pass breakups (13) to go along with four interceptions.

Miami Dolphins: LB David Long Jr.

Long had the best season of his NFL career, notching 86 tackles and seven tackles for loss with the Titans. He looks to build on that success in his first season with the Dolphins.

New York Giants: WR Bryce Ford-Wheaton, WR David Sills V, OL Mark Glowinski

Ford-Wheaton and Sills V could be battling each other for that final wide receiver spot on the Giants roster. At least that appeared to be the narrative a few weeks ago. But with the addition on Cole Beasley, there may not be room on the active roster for either one of them. Glowinski aims to continue his streak of four seasons starting 14 or more games.

New York Jets: OL Yodny Cajuste, OL Adam Pankey

Similar to Ford-Wheaton and Sills, these Mountaineers are likely on the outside looking in.

Pittsburgh Steelers: LB Nick Kwiatkoski, S Kenny Robinson Jr., LS Rex Sunahara

Sunahara will battle Christian Kuntz for the long snapper job while Kwiatkoski and Robinson will fight for a roster spot.

Seattle Seahawks: QB Geno Smith

It took entirely too long for Geno to get his second chance at starting in the NFL, but he took full advantage of it when that opportunity finally arrived last season. Smith threw for 4,282 yards and 30 touchdowns while leading the league in completion percentage (69.8%).

San Francisco 49ers: OL Colton McKivitz

McKivitz is slated to start at right tackle this season for the Niners.

Tennessee Titans: TE Trevon Wesco

Wesco is listed as the third tight end on the Titans depth chart, but will likely also see some time at fullback.

Free Agents: WR Tavon Austin, WR Kevin White, OL Quinton Spain, DE Bruce Irvin, S Karl Joseph
