Five-Star Guard Includes West Virginia in Top 10

A big-time recruit has the Mountaineers on his radar.

West Virginia isn't typically in the mix for five-star recruits on a regular basis, but it appears they have a chance at landing one of the best guards and overall players in the country, Jasper Johnson.

Johnson is currently a member of the 2025 recruiting class, but there is some speculation as to whether or not he will reclassify to 2024.

The 6'4", 170-pound guard from Branson, Missouri released his top ten schools Thursday evening which featured Alabama, Auburn, Baylor, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Missouri, North Carolina, USC, and West Virginia.

“I loved it," Johnson told Joe Tipton of On3 Sports about his official visit to WVU. "They have a new coaching staff. Coach is having to make a couple of adjustments and things. They’ve definitely been recruiting me since my freshman year, came up to my old high school a couple of times, just building that relationship between us. Coach (Jordan) McCabe calls me two times a day really and we just stay in contact.”
