Hunter Wohler: Rising Star

Hunter Wohler, the junior safety from Muskego, Wisconsin, has made his presence felt in the Badgers' defense. Graduating from Muskego High School, Wohler had already demonstrated his promise as an outstanding defensive back. His transition into college football was seamless; he stood out during his freshman year in 2021, and now, in 2023, Wohler continues to be a crucial element of the Wisconsin Badgers' defense.

Early Years: Muskego High School Stardom

Coming out of Muskego, Wisconsin, Hunter Wohler was no stranger to football glory. During his high school tenure at Muskego High, Wohler took home an array of awards including the Jim Leonhard Award for being the outstanding senior defensive back. He was also named the Associated Press and WFCA Wisconsin Player of the Year twice, not to mention landing the Gatorade State Player of the Year in 2021. He closed his high school chapter with an impressive 355 tackles and 9 interceptions, including a strong senior year with 78 tackles and 2 interceptions.

Making a Splash in College Football

Wohler carried his high-achieving momentum into his college career with the Wisconsin Badgers. In his first season in 2021, Wohler participated in all 13 games, during which he recorded 17 tackles and bagged a sack. Though the 2022 season had challenges—Wohler suffered a leg injury in the season opener—he still managed to contribute in 6 games. Across his college career, he has racked up 72 tackles and 3 interceptions, two of which were sacks.

Coming Back Strong: Wohler’s Recent Performances

In a recent showdown against the Georgia Southern Eagles, Wohler was nothing short of exceptional. Recording 10 tackles, two interceptions, and sacking Eagles' quarterback Davis Brin, Wohler showcased his talents. So far this season Wohler has recorded a whopping 34 tackles.

Wohler Off The Field: Making a Difference

Beyond his athletic excellence, Wohler demonstrates heart and commitment off the field. This summer he volunteered at MYF Camp at his old high school, spending valuable time mentoring young kids despite his busy schedule.

Looking Ahead: The Upcoming Showdown with Purdue

The Badgers are now setting their sights on the Purdue Boilermakers, with the next game set for this coming Friday at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana. Wohler, now more than ever, will be a player to keep an eye on.
