Last night's game was a masterclass in team hockey as the Wisconsin Badgers Women's Hockey Team dominated the Lindenwood Lions in a 6-0 victory. With 65 shootouts and a balanced scoring effort, the Badgers made a huge statement about their potential for the season.

Offensive Firepower Showcased

Sophomore Laila Edwards kicked off the Badgers' goal bonanza with the opening goal in the first quarter. Edwards, who played in all 41 games in her freshman year, has been a consistent contributor. She had 103 shots and 13 goals last season. The trend continued as she fired 5 shots last night, one of which found the net.

Wozniewicz Adds Another

Sarah Wozniewicz, a junior who has been with the Badgers since the 2021-22 season, added the second goal of the evening. Wozniewicz had 85 shots and 10 goals in her first season and played in all 42 games last season, adding another 80 shots and 6 goals to her record.

Simms: The Sophomore Sensation

Sophomore Kirsten Simms contributed the third goal of the game, helping to maintain the Badgers' momentum. In her rookie season, Simms made a considerable impact with 99 shots, an impressive 16 of which resulted in goals.

O'Brien: The Senior Spotlight

Casey O'Brien, a seasoned senior, added the fourth goal to the Badgers' tally. O'Brien has been a force to reckon with, especially highlighting her talent in the 2021-22 season where she scored a remarkable 27 goals from 164 shots.

Eden Closes the Deal

Junior Lacey Eden put the icing on the cake with two goals in the third quarter, the second coming with just 44 seconds remaining in the game. Eden had 8 goals from 55 shots in her freshman year and fired off an impressive 151 shots, converting 18 into goals during her sophomore season.

As the 2023-24 season progresses, this victory stands as a testament to what these ladies are capable of. Each player showcased not just individual skill but also the ability to contribute to a team effort, a promising sign for the games to come.
