Badgers Curl, Hall Claim Weekly WCHA Player Honors
Two Wisconsin Badgers women’s hockey players were named to Sterling Trophy Western Collegiate Hockey Association Players of the Week honors on Monday.
The awards were based on play from Jan. 1-8.
Britta Curl was named forward of the week and Cassie Hall was named rookie of the week.
Curl, Hall and the Badgers returned to the ice after a month-long break to host Merrimack for two games last week and won both by the same score, 6-1. With the wins the Badgers (16-4-0) remained No. 3 in the newest national poll as they prepare to host St. Thomas this weekend.
Curl, a senior from Bismarck, N.D., finished the Merrimack series with five points, including two goals and three assists. She finished her two games with a +5 plus/minus rating, which according to the WCHA was the second-best mark that week.
Entering this weekend Curl is second in the nation in points (38) and assists (24). Her 15 goals is eighth among Division I players.
Hall, a freshman from South Lyon, Mich., finished with two goals and two assists last weekend, with a goal and an assist in each game. She finished with four points and had an identical plus/minus mark to Curl, which was best among WCHA rookies. Her point total also led all WCHA rookies.
