Ranking the Halloween Skins in Apex Legends from Worst to Best

  • One of the most exciting things about playing competitive games like Apex Legends is the skins and how customizable you can make your Legend.
  • When events like Halloween or Christmas come around, the Developers get into the festive spirit with themed skins.
  • But not all skins are created equal, while some are so good you can wear them year round, others can be a complete travesty.

The spooky season is upon us and that means Halloween skins new and old are coming to Apex Legends! Whether you're looking for a spooky clown like Caustic, to see Wraith wearing a witch hat or Gibraltar as some kind of monster, there’s a little something for everyone. The skins here aren’t all of the Halloween themed skins in the game, so if you don’t see your favorite Legend, don’t worry they have something for everyone. Here are a handful of frightful skins from Apex Legends from worst to the best.

13. Mirage as a Pirate

Look, I love Mirage, I think he’s a joy to play and to have on your team. His self-deprecating humor gets me to smile every single time. And to his credit, Pirates are an iconic choice for costume in the autumn months…but Pirates of the Caribbean is a bit overplayed at this point as a Halloween costume. But I think showing up with a lame costume gives fuel to his sad-boy jokes, so it works for Mirage.

12. Mirage as a Cowboy

Is it fair to put Mirage at the bottom two-times in a row? Should I really be punching Miraging while he’s down? Of course, one of them was probably a duplicate anyhow. The Cowboy skin edges out over the Pirate just a bit because he’s put a little more work into this one. He’s going for the cowboy clown, so there’s actual make-up involved. However, nothing about this is scary and Caustic, who is further up the list, has two Halloween clown skins that are way better.

11. Ash as a Demon

There are very few Ash skins that aren’t complete fire and this is one of them. While it could be debated whether or not this is supposed to be a Halloween skin in Apex Legends or not, she’s a monster so we’re counting it. The mask, half broken, is a nice touch to an already cool and spooky skin.

10. Bangalore as a Skeleton

Not exactly a skeleton, but Bangalore repping make-up traditionally associated with Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a cool skin that sets itself apart from the rest of the Halloween themes. It’s still timely as Día de los Muertos takes place at the start of November just a day after Halloween. I’m also a big fan of how they got her combat skirt to go with this skin so it doesn’t look lame.

9. Catalyst as a Medusa

This is a very cool skin on its own even independent of Halloween, but it’s also not very scary. I’d love to put it higher but despite being featured in the Halloween store sale, you could wear this skin at just about any time and no one would necessarily think ‘Halloween’ when they saw it. It makes it a great skin, but maybe not the best Halloween skin.

8. Crypto as a Vampire

Vampires are a staple for Halloween and they never go out of style. But you know who does run out of style? Crypto. The skin is great in concept, but Crypto’s nonchalant, anime-guy hands in pocket pose just ruins the whole vibe. You know who could’ve pulled off this Dracula-style cosplay with finesse and the camp it deserves at a Halloween party? Mirage.

7. Revenant as a Werewolf

This is a great idea on paper, but in execution it requires a certain taste to really appreciate it. Revenant as a character makes perfect sense for an Apex Monster like the Werewolf. But, it looks a little shabby with patches of fur in random spots around the body. His pose lends himself to being a better zombie, or maybe a half-zombie\half-machine like if the Terminator was infested with the T-Virus. You can have that one for free Respawn. See you on Halloween 2024.

6. Wattson as a Pumpkin Punk

Some people may try to argue this isn’t a true Halloween skin because Wattson isn’t dressed up as anything. But not everyone is into wearing actual costumes on Halloween and they’re still allowed to dress-up and celebrate. The punk-style skin is probably one of Wattson’s best skins to date and the pumpkin orange and spider-webs definitely screams Halloween. Plus, look at those stockings, tell me to my face those aren’t halloween stockings.

5. Caustic as Mr. Clown

That’s Mr. Clown to you, sir. Caustic is so good as a scary clown, he’s got multiple variations on the same idea. He’s already a scary guy all on his own so he pulls off the creepy clown vibe very well. This Mr. Clown suit that has gangster vibes to it is a bit different from the usual Killer Klowns from Outer Space vibes, it shows that he really means business. And his business is probably murder.

4. Wraith as a Witch

A truly iconic look, Wraith represents one of the first Halloween skins in Apex Legends. She plays the part so perfectly with her otherworldly void powers. With Catalyst in the game, she fits the witch persona a lot better since she self-identifies as one in some of her voice lines. But we’re still giving major points to Wraith for pulling off the Wicked Witch of the West so well.

3. Gibraltar as Frakenstein

Another icon themed skin and this couldn’t be worn by anyone else in Apex Legends, Gibraltar was the perfect choice for this skin. He’s large and imposing and when you see him running you down on the battlefield, pitchforks and torches aren’t helping you out here. The only downside is…he hasn’t really seen any other great Halloween skins since. His Christmas skins are living their best life though.

2. Caustic as a Killer Clown

That’s right, the Gas Daddy himself makes it into the top 5 Halloween skins twice because he’s perfect for the creepy, killer clown. This one ditches the suit and tie and goes all in on what makes clowns scary for anyone with Coulrophobia. It would make Stephen King and Pennywise very proud.

1. Octane as the Scarecrow

One of the newer Halloween skins in Apex Legends, Scarecrow Octane is perfect in every way. Harkening to both the original, iconic scarecrow and of course, to Dr. Crane from the Batman universe. The neon-green eyes and tubes tie brand-appropriate colors from Octane, Halloween and Scarecrow himself. This is easily one of the best Halloween skins created for Apex Legends.
