The Apex Legends community has been a bit flabbergasted over the new Final Fantasy VII Rebirth event, both due to the astronomical prices of the cosmetics and confusion over how to unlock certain items, like the One-Winged Angel Death Box.

Despite some backlash, Respawn Entertainment’s video game collaboration has been a huge hit. Players are loving the cosmetics, including the One-Winged Angel Death Box. So what exactly is it and how do you get it? Here’s everything we know.

Apex Legends Ranked Explained for Season 19

What Is the One-Winged Angel Death Box in Apex Legends?

Players can earn a One-Winged Angel Deathbox for obtaining all 36 limited-time cosmetics in the Apex Legends x Final Fantasy 7 crossover event.

This is the first-ever cosmetic Death Box in Apex Legends, so you may be wondering what that really means. Basically, it means that when you are eliminated, your Death Box will not be the usual gray and will instead feature gray coloring and a wing, inspired by Sephiroth. Basically, you can now die in style.

An official image of the One-Winged Angel Death Box was never shared but some leaked online ahead of the collaboration debut.

The response has been mixed. Some applauded Respawn at finding a unique cosmetic to offer, since the Death Box was originally quite boring and ignored. Others found it strange to “flex” after dying, noting that enemy players will just be teabagging your expensive Death Box after taking you out.

The biggest complaint, however, is the cost.

The One-Winged Angel Death Box will automatically unlock (along with the Buster Sword) when you unlock all 36 cosmetic items in the Final Fantasy VII event.

Gamers have calculated that this will take $360 of IRL money if you choose to purchase everything outright without grinding. This is the most expensive Apex Legends event in history and fans are quite stunned.

Some gamers have noted that cosmetics are the only way that Apex Legends makes any money since it’s a free-to-play game. But others feel they are being taken advantage of. Paying $360 to have a fancy Death Box seems almost like an insult to many. But for collectors, the One-Winged Angel Death Box is a very interesting item that’s worth the price tag since it commemorates the event and works for every legend.
