Is Horizon finally getting an Heirloom in Apex Legends?
Horizon may finally be getting her Heirloom in Apex Legends Season 17
- A well-known data miner has noted that Horizon recently got new animations for walking, running and crouching. Something that happens only when Legends get Heirlooms.
- Horizon is the oldest character in Apex Legends who still doesn’t have an heirloom.
- Most believe she is next in line, but what her heirloom could be is still a mystery.
The most coveted cosmetic item in the Apex Legends battle royale is the elusive Heirloom melee weapon. Originally introduced way back during the launch of Apex Legends, there was a 1 in 500 chance you could obtain Wraith’s special kunai out of loot boxes. Since adding in more Heirlooms, you can now obtain Heirloom Shards, a special currency used to buy Mythic level cosmetics such as the Heirlooms or Prestige skin.
Horizon, everyone’s favorite space mommy scientist has been waiting the longest for hers and is the oldest character still due an heirloom. For all the Horizon mains out there, your wait may finally be over.
Horizon’s Got Some New Moves
Popular Apex Legends content creator and data miner KralRindo reported a while ago that there were new animations in the files for Horizon. These new animations were of her running, walking and crouching while holding something in her hands.
These types of animations are normally added in preparation of a new heirloom dropping. This should get Horizon mains excited, but if you’re hoping to learn exactly what kind of weapon the space mommy will be wielding, you’ll have to wait a bit longer.
How much longer? According to KralRindo, those files have also recently been removed and that usually happens when they’re ready to release. So you should expect her Collection Event in the later part of the season.
What is Horizon’s Heirloom?
There have been a lot of great ideas from the community in Apex Legends about what her heirloom weapon could be. One creator mocked up a data knife that also served as a pen for taking notes. It featured a very cool mini black hole in the handle.
As cool as that idea is, we do know the heirloom is going to require two hands. In the animations that KralRindo found, Horizon holds her weapon with two hands when she’s alert and one hand when she’s at rest or crouching.
Another creator, Archtux, created this mock up of what a Lightsaber might look like for Horizon. Well it obviously won’t be so similar to an actual Star Wars Jedi Lightsaber, it’s not a bad guess. Horizon has had a lot of space and sci-fi themed skins in the game. A sword-like weapon can be wielded with one or two hands. So it’s as good a guess as any at this point.
The only problem with giving Horizon a sword that extends out is that it’s very similar to Crypto’s heirloom. A cool idea that would fit Horizon’s theme and be original would be a morning star or mace that uses a contained black hole as the head. It could even have rocks, or metal spikes that orbit it when it’s “turned on”.
Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long for the Collection Event and the reveal of her Heirloom. The last Collection Event saw the release of Ash’s nunchaku heirloom that no one expected. It was even revealed that Horizon’s son had originally bought them before gifting them to Ash when she was undercover as Doctor Leigh.
