Moist Esports takes first in the Winner’s Brackets of the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs

  • Moist Esports is an organization created last year by streamers Ludwig and MoistCr1TiKaL.
  • Formerly Team Burger, their participation in the 2022 ALGS season was enough to catch the eyes of Moist Esports when they were putting their roster together.
  • Moist Esports came in 6th place in the Split 1 Playoffs in February and are now in contention to take first in the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs.

Since coming together last year with the backing of big streamers like Ludwig Ahgren and Charlie “MoistCr1TiKaL” White, Moist Esports have slowly been waiting for the chance to prove themselves. After the Bracket Stages of the Apex Legends Global Series Split 2 Playoffs, it’s hard to say they haven’t as they sit at the top with names like TSM, Alliance and Fnatic beneath them.

The Rise of Moist Esports

Moist Esports was created in August of 2022, the month following the 2022 ALGS Championship where Team Burger (their former name) took 17th place. Prior to that, they placed 15th in the ALGS: 2022 Split 2 Playoffs.

But the owners of Moist Esports saw something in this roster and wanted them ready for the 2023 season. As an APAC-South team, they placed 2nd in the Pro League for Split 1 and earned their way into the 2023 Split 1 Playoffs that TSM would eventually win, but they showed they could stand with the legacy teams as they took 6th place.

At the end of March, as the ALGS regional Pro Leagues were wrapping up, Moist Esports claimed 1st in the APAC South. Now, at the 2023 Split 2 Playoffs, they’ve managed to top the leaderboards for the Bracket Stage.

Moist Esports Bracket

The winner’s bracket was stacked with champion contenders, but Moist Esports proved they deserved to be there among them, picking up three top-four finishes in the six-match series. That includes a win in round 2 with 12 kills and only one bottom 10 placement in the entire bracket.

Wxltzy says in his post-match interview how he feels that the team gets no respect and they feel that when it comes to contesting drop spots. But their winner’s bracket numbers should go a long way in changing that. They topped the leaderboards in terms of kills at 35 and damage done with over 17,800.

Their win of the day was in round 3 and the final fight was between Moist Esports, DarkZero Esports and FaZe Clan, which are two of the biggest names in the Apex Legends Global Series this year. Their patience and positioning allowed them to turn the two teams against one another, Horizon lift into the air to delay as long as possible then drop down and wipe up the fight just before the ring closed.

The first-place position in the winner’s bracket is a vital place to hold going into Final’s day. As the top performing team Moist Esports will start the day with 10 points towards the needed 50 points to achieve Match Point status.
