The Call of Duty League had its first major last weekend in Raleigh, North Carolina, and it did not disappoint. With the launch of the new game in October, Modern Warfare 2 was bound to give us several surprises. The new mechanics, gameplay, and in particular, the GA of the M4 assault rifle, the first major for MW2, was going to be exciting to see the adjustments the teams make.

Let's look at some of the headlines for the first Major in the CDL:

New York Subliners Take it All

The shock heard around the CDL was the New York Subliners winning Major 1. If you were to ask anyone before the weekend, very few would have selected the Subliners to take home the first Major. On the backs of Hydra and Kismet, they were able to take down the Seattle Surge in a commanding fashion, defeating them 4-1.

Here's a look back at the final match.

Minnesota RØkkr Let Us Down

After dominating the qualifying round and coming into group play as the top seed, the RØkkr laid an egg and left many in Raleigh disappointed. They got off to a hot start in group play, beating the Challengers, Decimate Gaming. But then turned around and got smoked by the Subliners 3-0. They squeaked out of group play by beating the Los Angeles Guerrillas but didn't last long in the brackets, losing to the Toronto Ultra and Vegas Legion to end their weekend. They still have much to prove if they want the rest of the CDL to take them seriously.

Seattle Surge Should be Proud

While the qualifier rounds weren't the best for the Surge, they quickly turned things around for bracket play. After taking down the Los Angeles Thieves in the first round 3-1, the Surge were flying high and took down the soon-to-be Champion Subliners in the next round 3-1. They kept riding their hot players to a 3-2 victory against the Atlanta FaZe, with Sib Mack and Pred playing absolutely dominant. They eventually lost in the Grand Finals, but there's a lot to be happy about in their performance, and it will be something they can build on.

Take a look back at their dominating performance against FaZe
