Envoy Joins Toronto Ultra
It's been nothing but rumors during rostermania. Outside teams dropping players and a few retiring from competitive Call of Duty, it's been quiet on the roster move front. That all changed on July 19, with teams making roster moves official.
Toronto Ultra Sign Dylan "Envoy" Hannon
Toronto announced on Twitter that they are signing the "Prince of the North" Envoy. The star SMG for the Los Angeles Thieves left the team on July 12, with rumors circling about the possibility of him joining Toronto to pair with Tobias "CleanX" Juul Jønsson as an SMG duo and the reigning Rookie of the Year, Thomas "Scrappy" Ernst, and veteran Jamie "Insight" Craven.
There was an area for improvement in the Toronto camp after what was an impressive season but ultimately ended in a flawed way. They seemingly walked their way to the Grand Finals during Champs weekend but were embarrassingly swept by the New York Subliners.
They were able to put together a Championship performance at Major 3 after signing Challengers standout Charlie "Hicksy" Hicks. It was a tremendous season for the rookie, but Toronto decided to go in a different direction, releasing him on June 26.
It was a bit of a surprise to many, considering how well Hicksy played throughout most of the season, but when the option to sign a player like Envoy becomes apparent, it's in the best interest of the team to take the mega leap in improvement.
As one of the best teams in the Call of Duty League throughout the majority of the MW2 season, Toronto should be the favorite to win many events next season. With how their current roster is structured, it will be one of the most dangerous teams on paper.
