Atlanta FaZe have been a dominant force throughout the entire 2023 Call of Duty League season. The roster of Chris “Simp” Lehr, Tyler “aBeZy” Pharris, McArthur “Cellium” Jovel and Austin “Slasher” Liddicoat took the Major 2 crown in Boston, and currently sit top of the CDL standings with 225 CDL Points. However, the Major 4 Qualifiers didn’t get off to the start they would’ve hoped, suffering a 3-2 loss to the New York Subliners.

The New York Subliners and Atlanta FaZe had a 1-1 record against each other heading into this series, but the mapset favored the New York Subliners, with them having a better record on the respawn modes, and FaZe only bettering them in the two Search and Destroy maps.

The series began with a close-fought Embassy Hardpoint which saw the New York Subliners take a 1-0 lead in the series with a 250-211 victory. This was a battle of the SMG’s primarily, with Kismet topping the leaderboard on the side of NYSL with a 1.71 K/D that saw him put up 29k/17d while aBeZy also dominated on the side of Atlanta FaZe with 32k/24d. However, it was possibly Priestahh who made the difference, being the only AR player to go positive on this map, putting up 30 kills and a 1.43 K/D as he held down hills and solidified spawns for the team.

As always, Atlanta FaZe replied with a solid Search and Destroy performance, taking a 6-4 victory on the map two Hotel SnD. Abezy, Priestahh and Kismet all continued to perform, being the only players to go positive in this entire map. Atlanta FaZe went on to take the series lead with a 3-1 Control win on Hotel. This was a closer map than the scoreline suggests, with it just coming down to some crucial gunfights. 26 kills from Simp saw him top the leaderboard, and put FaZe in control of the series.

It all looked said and done late into the map four Hotel Hardpoint. However, the New York Subliners pulled it back yet again through the dominance of Priestahh and Kismet. Priestahh put up a massive 35 kills in this map four, seeing him drop an astonishing 1.67 K/D as the Subliners took us the distance into a map five. Atlanta FaZe had a 5-4 lead in this final El Asilo Search and Destroy, but it was an excellent 4v4 retake from the New York Subliners that saw them take the final round, the map, and the series.

This might be an upset given that it was against Atlanta FaZe, but we all know how much damage the New York Subliners can do when they’re all on the same page. They are Major 1 winners after all.
