The State of Esports Episode 11 — Happy Anniversary
What’s up, I’m Cooper, and this is the state of esports brought to you by the Skillshot Media, Ghost Gaming, and the Georgia Esports League.
This month marks the 1 year anniversary of the Georgia Esports League - and with that an announcement. Ethan Byrd, Program Director of Kennessaw State Esports is being selected as the new Commissioner of GEL. Byrd has been an integral part of the KSU Esports program, and we are very excited to have him on board to help coordinate our 2023 and 2024 competitions which we will be publicly announcing in the coming weeks.
Also coming onboard Georgia Public Broadcasting and Georgia Entertainment News! Both of these media partners will be helping to promote, distribute, and spread the word about the growth of esports and gaming in our state! Fall might have just begun, but we want to skip ahead to December a second. GirlGamer Esports Festival - the world's leading event to celebrate and promote women's competitiveness in esports has announced their North American location for their 2023 Circuit. It’s Atlanta. Presented by Skillshot, The Atlanta Festival will feature a Rocket League competition as well as provide opportunities for attendees to meet and learn from established female gaming creators and live-streamers. You do not want to miss this event.
Wrapping it up today, we will go international. The United States Esports Federation is sending multiple teams to represent the United States at the IESF World Championships in Romania. The event is Aug 24 - Sept 4. Has a prize pool of $500,000. 800+ competitors from over 130+ countries will be represented in CS:Go, DOTA 2, Tekken 7, eFootball, Pubg Mobile, CS:GO Female, and Mobile Legends Bang Bang.
