Every Fighting Game Release in 2024
2023 was one of the biggest years in recent fighting game memory. The release of Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat 1 and Granblue Versus: Rising saw a huge resurgence of the FGC and increased gamers’ interest in the often impenetrable genre. In 2024, there are still some big title releases that are waiting in the wings and some DLC dropping for games already in the wild. So here’s a look at the release calendar for fighting games in 2024.

Street Fighter 6 — 5 Ranked Tips for Escaping Bronze
At A Glance:
- The year is front-loaded with Tekken 8 arriving on January 26th starting the year off with a major release
- Street Fighter 6 and GBVS: Rising are both slated for DLC in Q1 2024
- There are currently no release details on Riot Game’s fighter, Project L
Winter 2024
Lucilius (GBVS: Rising DLC) — January 16th
The first bit of new content for fighting games comes by way of Granblue Versus: Rising which is already getting its first new fighter only a month after its release.
Under Night In-Birth 2 Sys:Celes — January 25th
The UNI series is a mainstay of the “anime fighters” subgenre and the latest iteration will include a couple of new characters and some additional systems to keep things fresh.
Tekken 8 — January 26th
One of the most anticipated games of the year, Tekken 8 is the last of the “big three” fighting games to be released in this generation.
Ed (Street Fighter 6 Character DLC)
Ed made his debut in Street Fighter V with the unique mechanic that he required no motion inputs, only button presses. It will be interesting to see how he plays in SF6’s Modern control scheme.
Jujutsu Kaizen Cursed Clash
This “ninja storm” style game is based on the popular anime which is known for its flashy fights and heavily stylized power system.
2B (GBVS: Rising DLC)
In one of the more unexpected announcements from Granblue Fest, Nier: Automata’s 2B slashes her way into GBVS:R in February of this year.
Spring 2024
Akuma (Street Fighter 6 DLC character)
This demonic fighter is a fan-favorite among Street Fighter fans and his inclusion is sure to get people hype.
Vane & Beatrix (GBVS: Rising DLC Characters)
Fresh off the back of GranBlue Fantasy: ReLink, which drops in January, these two characters from the Granblue universe are sure to get some folks coming from that game excited.
