  • A Capcom Insider revealed on a stream that they are planning an upcoming trial for Street Fighter 6.
  • Nothing has yet been confirmed, but with a Summer release, the timing would be about right.

Street Fighter 6 is a highly anticipated fighting game that’s set to come out June 2, 2023. The hype behind the game is real, with Street Fighter 6 boasting the most sign-ups at Evo 2023 so far. More and more content is being released that showcases vibrant, hype fighting action but the FGC is growing antsy, wondering when they can try the game out for themselves.

Well, it may be as soon as this month if a recent leak is to be believed.

A Capcom insider from Japan, Eiko Kano, accidentally hinted at a possible upcoming beta while livestreaming. Between Dead By Daylight matches, Kano was responding to his chat about Street Fighter 6. At one point, he said that Capcom was planning a “trial” for the fighting game later this month.

The stream was roughly translated by FGC content creator Ryan Harvey. On Twitter, he explained that “trial” in Japanese is used similarly to “beta” in English. But others questioned if it could be a demo instead. Either way, it’s possible that something big is coming later this month if Kano is to be believed.

An open beta has not been explicitly confirmed, however.

Who Is Eiko Kano?

A lot of people wondered if Kano would be fired from Capcom for the accidental slip-up but Harvey reassured them that Kano is huge in Japan — with over 1.52 million fans on YouTube — and probably wouldn’t be too upset if Capcom reacted negatively to the stream.

Kano isn’t just a gamer. Born in 1982, the Japanese native is also a comedian, singer, lyricist, and composer. On YouTube, Kano also does a lot of food vlogs, video game-themed music, and Let’s Play-style gaming sessions.

With so much clout on his side, many people are believing Kano that there really is a Street Fighter 6 beta on the way.

Street Fighter 6 Open Beta Content

The possibility of an upcoming open beta has the FGC riled up. There hasn’t been any gameplay opportunities since the closed beta last year.

Since then, there’s been a lot more roster reveals and new content updates. This has left Street Fighter fans desperate to try out the game a bit more.

The open beta has not been confirmed by Capcom just yet and is currently just a rumor. But if there was to be a Street Fighter 6 open beta this month, you could expect to see characters like Blanka, Lily, Cammy, and many more that were not available during the previous closed beta.

Nothing has been confirmed at this time, unfortunately. For now, Street Fighter 6 players will have to rely on gameplay footage that continues to get shared to YouTube to see the latest updates in action.
