Street Fighter II: CE HS-5 Deluxe Arcade Machine Announced at Evo 2023
Arcade1Up just announced its newest deluxe arcade machine, the Street Fighter II: CE HS-5 Deluxe. The new machine has 14 Capcom games and features an authentic design inspired by the “iconic dynamo HS-5 shape.”
Meant to have a vintage aesthetic, the newest Deluxe arcade machine embodies the essence of the 90s arcade culture, revived by Street Fighter II, according to Arcade1Up. While it may look retro, the machine has a lot of features that bring it into present day, including a faux molded coin door, a light-up marquee, dual speakers, and WiFi multiplayer. There are even leaderboard capabilities.
The 14 games on the machine include:
- Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting
- Super Street Fighter II Turbo
- Street Fighter II: Champion Edition
- King of Dragons
- Strider
- Progear
- Battle Circuit
- Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
- Saturday Night Slam Masters
- Capcom Sports Club
- Final Fight
- Giga Wing
- Captain Commando
- Armored Warriors
The new arcade machine is available to play for the first time at Evo 2023, which takes place at Las Vegas this weekend. It will become available to buy this fall. If you want updates on the Street Fighter II: CE HS-5 Deluxe arcade machine’s release date, sign up for updates here.
Street Fighter II came out in February of 1991. It stood out in arcades at the time, exciting a whole community of competitive fighting game enthusiasts. Seth Killian, a former tournament commentator turned Capcom Senior Manager told BBC at one time: “SFII stood out visually with huge characters and beautiful animations, but what really grabbed me was the crowd around the machine. Competing against a live opponent, in front of strangers, to see who kept their quarter, and who went to the back of the line? The experience was intoxicating."
It’s no wonder that Street Fighter continued to grow and innovate, changing what the fighting game scene is time and time again. Street Fighter 6 is proof of the game’s ongoing success and it’s looking like the esports scene is only getting bigger with the largest prize pool in FGC history.
