Two New Game Modes Coming to Fortnite

Fortnite is known for their surprise announcements when it comes to events, new modes, skins, and anything else being added to the game. Epic Games is constantly adding things to enhance the player's experience to ensure never-ending entertainment for the player base.

One way to ensure entertainment is to add new game modes. The game has added numerous new ways to play over the years ranging from the original battle royale to LEGO Fortnite. Now, in addition to the current modes available, Epic just announced that players may have not one but two new game modes releasing.

According to leaker ShiinaBR, Epic Games recently announced the addition to two new game modes in the upcoming months. One of which will be a "new version of Fortnite: Reload" where 40 players drop down onto a small map in squads. When eliminated, an individual timer starts allowing the player to respawn once the timer ends. If a full squad is wiped then they're eliminated and the game continues until there's one squad left.

There isn't much information about the second game mode but it has been confirmed that it will be an "entirely new game mode" that should be dropping sometime this year. If this new game mode does release in 2024, Epic may follow their typical pattern of creating an OG season. Once the OG season is over, they will most likely introduce the new game modes in the next chapter, Chapter 6.

Both of these modes are said to rely heavily on UEFN (Unreal Editor for Fortnite) and Verse, which allows players to create and publish custom game content. This includes but is not limited to rules, devices, defining NPC behavior, animations, audio, and more. This alone could be a game changer for Fortnite players.

There are currently eight main game modes available to players in Fortnite. Each game mode, while similar, delivers a unique spin to the game mechanics. It will be interesting to see how the two new game modes fit in with the ones currently available.

  • Battle Royale: This is a PvP mode where players drop from the Battle Bus onto an island and fight until there's only one left standing.
  • Zero Build: Basically the same as Battle Royale, a PvP mode with a recharging overshield and no building.
  • Reload: A respawn mode where players will fight their opponents until their team is wiped or they win. This is on a smaller island and gives players a different kind of loot pool.
  • Fortnite Festival: A rhythm-based game mode where players can perform songs, create mashups, unlock new instruments and more.
  • LEGO Fortnite: The world of Fortnite and LEGO combine in a survival crafting mode.
  • Rocket Racing: An arcade racer mode mixing Rocket League and Fortnite.
  • Creative Mode: A sandbox environment where you are given your own island that you can build on, create games, share creations, and more.
  • Save The World: Utilizing your building skills, you must eliminate monster hordes while exploring the world around you.
