This year, Riot Games has expanded its format for MSI 2023 as the number of teams has increased from 11 to 13. While certain regions like the LCO no longer have direct slots to MSI 2023, Riot Games has allotted a second seed for the runner-ups from North America, Europe, China, and South Korea.

The first seeds from North America, Europe, and China, as well as South Korea’s two seeds have already qualified for the Bracket Stage. These five teams will bypass the Play-In stage due to their accomplishments throughout the regional leagues.

Meanwhile, the remaining eight teams will compete in the Play-In stage, where they will compete against one another to be one of three teams to join the eight-team bracket stage.
