Disney Lorcana is getting the TCG excited thanks to its stunning Disney-themed illustrations and pretty entertaining Magic-inspired gameplay. But a lot of trading card game competitors have noticed that Disney Lorcana is pretty pricey compared to other games. If you’re looking to build some cost-effective decks that can still keep up with the current meta, check out these budget deck ideas.

Villains

Revolving around Hades — King of Olympus, this deck is all about building up your villain character cards and then overwhelming your opponent in late game. Hades has the ability to an additional one lore for each villain card that’s in play, meaning Hades can essentially get five-plus lore every time he quests.

Villains is a pretty fun deck to play because it can catch enemies off guard. Opponents may not know your strategy until you drop Hades and start gathering lore at rapid speed. The downside is that a lot of your cards are uninkable, meaning you won’t build up your inkwell fast enough against aggressive decks.

Deck List:

  • 4 Lilo - Make a Wish
  • 4 Stitch - New Dog
  • 4 Maleficent - Biding Her Time
  • 3 Pascal - Rapunzel’s Companion
  • 4 Simba - Protective Cub
  • 4 Dr. Facilier - Charlatan
  • 2 Yzma - Alchemist
  • 4 Hades - Lord of the Underworld
  • 4 Maleficent - Sorceress
  • 3 Rafiki - Mysterious Sage
  • 4 Jafar - Wicked Sorcerer
  • 4 Jafar - Keeper of Secrets
  • 2 Stitch - Rock Star
  • 3 Hades - King of Olympus
  • 3 Be Our Guest
  • 4 Friends on the Other Side
  • 2 Lantern
  • 2 White Rabbit’s Pocket Watch

Stitch Turbo

This popular deck was much discussed before the entirety of The First Chapter was even known. Stitch Turbo revolves around character cards with low ink costs that can be rapidly placed on your board and start gathering lore before your opponent can catch up, think Lilo — Making a Wish and Maleficent — Biding Her Time. You also want four copies of Stitch — New Dog, which is the shift target for Stitch — Rock Star.

Your goal is to get Stitch — Rock Star out by turn three. This lets you exert a character of two cost or less to draw a card, essentially allowing you to continuously draw cards and get the components you need to steamroll your opponent.

Deck List:

  • 4 Olaf - Friendly Snowman
  • 4 Stitch - New Dog
  • 4 Maleficent - Biding Her Time
  • 4 Befuddle
  • 4 Lilo - Making a Wish
  • 4 Magic Broom - Bucket Brigade
  • 4 Lantern
  • 4 Lefou - Bumbler
  • 4 Simba - Protective Cub
  • 4 Elsa - Snow Queen
  • 4 Maleficent - Sorceress
  • 4 Friends on the Other Side
  • 4 Mickey Mouse - Wayward Wizard
  • 4 Zeus - God of Lightning
  • 4 Stitch - Rock Star

Evasives

This Emerald-focused deck is all about outsmarting your opponent while questing for lore. It’s simple to play, with your goal being to get our character cards that are tough to mess with and then questing while the enemy attempts to figure out how to stop you.

For example, Pongo — Ol’ Rascal is an “evasive” card, meaning only other evasive cards can challenge him, limiting your opponent’s options when dealing with him. Once your opponent has an answer, you have already been questing for a while.

Evasive decks win fast but you will have issues against control decks. Any deck focused on disrupting your board state will have plenty of answers for your characters.

Deck List:

  • 4 Duke of Weselton - Opportunistic Official
  • 4 Sergeant Tibbs - Courageous Cat
  • 4 Cruella de Vil - Miserable as Usual
  • 4 Flyn Rider - Charming Rogue
  • 4 Cheshire Cat - Not All There
  • 4 Lago - Loud-Mouthed Parrot
  • 4 Peter Pan - Never landing
  • 2 Abu - Mischievous Monkey
  • 4 Tinker Bell - Most Helpful
  • 4 Pongo - Ol’ Rascal
  • 4 Kuzco - Temperamental Emperor
  • 4 Mad Hatter - Gracious Host
  • 4 Goofy - Daredevil
  • 2 Genie - On the Job
  • 4 Tigger - Wonderful Thing
  • 4 Mother Knows Best

Ramp

This budget version of Ramp is very effective. Your goal is to aggressively challenge your opponents as quickly into the game as you can, starting with characters like Gaston — Arrogant Hunter and Donald Duck — Strutting His Stuff to have a powerful board state early on and then bringing out the big guns like Maui — Hero To All. He is able to challenge the moment he is played, making him an overwhelming threat most enemies can’t deal with.

Basically, you can easily stop your opponent from building up a board and questing for lore. Once they are behind, you can start questing and racking up lore. Just keep in mind that you are missing some of the big bosses that are in the non-budget version.

Deck List:

  • 3 Donald Duck - Boisterous Fowl
  • 2 Gaston - Arrogant Hunter
  • 4 Gramma Tala - Storyteller
  • 2 Philoctetes - Trainer of Heroes
  • 4 Aladdin - Street Rat
  • 4 Mickey Mouse - Detective
  • 4 Maui - Hero to All
  • 4 Donald Duck - Strutting His Stuff
  • 4 Stitch - Abomination
  • 4 Mufasa - King of the pride Lands
  • 2 Scar - Mastermind
  • 2 Aladdin - Heroic Outlaw
  • 3 Triton - Sea King
  • 4 Develop Your Brain
  • 4 Dragon Fire
  • 4 One Jump Ahead
  • 2 Let it Go
  • 4 Be Prepared
