Disney Lorcana has been hyping up the collector crowd ever since The First Chapter was released in select Disney locations and local shops. Despite there not even being enough of the first set to go around, the TCG community is already wondering when the second set will be coming. Luckily, it looks like it will be coming later this year.

When Will Disney Lorcana Set 2 Be Released

Similar to the first set, called The First Chapter, Set 2 (no official name yet) will start with early access pre-release cards and then be more widely available a few weeks later.

You can expect the pre-released booster packs and cards to become available in card shops and online come November 17, 2023. This is just three months after The First Chapter’s early pre-release was.

Then, Disney Lorcana Set 2 will be officially released on December 1, 2023.

This release timeline was first reported by Games Radar but it’s not much of a surprise. Trading card games like Magic: The Gathering and Pokémon also release sets every few months as well.

What Cards Are in Disney Lorcana Set 2?

So far, there has been no confirmed information for Set 2, including a name or specific cards. It will most likely feature characters and movies that were not included in The First Chapter, ranging from classics like Dumbo and Aristocats to newer movies like Wreck-It-Ralph and Big Hero Six.

In a past interview, Ravensburger admitted that there’s already a 10-year plan for Disney Lorcana laid out, with every character from Disney’s animated movies and shows being an option. This could also mean Pixar and other companies purchased by Disney could become part of the card game in the future, although it’s unclear exactly what Ravensburger has in mind.

Another possible thing to keep in mind about future Disney Lorcana sets is the concept of “power creep.” In other card games, each set releases cards that are more and more powerful, forcing competitive players to build decks with newer cards if they want to have a viable deck for tournaments. For example, Pokémon cards get higher HP, stronger abilities, and more powerful attacks in every set. They also introduce new mechanics that further entice players to create decks with newer ‘mon.

Set 2 will most likely be too early for Disney Lorcana to start making The First Chapter irrelevant, but it’s possible that there will be new mechanics and strong cards that cannot be ignored. You should definitely expect the meta to change, whether it’s just stronger characters or even new strategies taking the forefront thanks to useful items
