Mortal Kombat 1 — Homelander Won't be Voiced by Antony Starr
Homelander is a highly anticipated DLC fighter coming to Mortal Kombat 1, bringing the deranged violence of The Boys’ lead antagonist to the fighting world. While Quan Chi and Peacemaker are coming first, the FGC has been discussing the possibility of Homelander’s actor also voicing the Mortal Kombat 1 version.
In November of 2023, Antony Starr stated that he wouldn’t be voicing Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1. Fans were skeptical but Starr recently doubled down on this unfortunate news.
Will Antony Starr Voice Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1?
After seeing just how well J. K. Simmons voices his character Omni-Man in Mortal Kombat 1, fans have started begging Starr to also step into his role in the game. But Starr won’t be doing that.
On Twitter, a fan begged Starr to voice Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1, stating that the fanbase “needed” him to play the role in the video game.
He said: “You are the only one who can voice Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1.”
In response, Starr simply said: “That ship flew, hombre.”
Basically, it’s too late.
Why Is Antony Starr Not Voicing Homelander in MK1?
The news that Starr is not voicing his character in MK1 has disappointed fans. But it’s not totally clear why his voice isn’t being utilized, especially since Simmons provided the voice lines for Omni-Man. Another celebrity, John Cena, is also voicing Peacemaker.
Seeing as developers were willing to shell out cash for these big names, it seems strange that they wouldn’t pay for Starr. Perhaps it was Starr himself who didn’t want to do voice acting.
Others believe that Starr is lying to make the reveal more exciting. This may be just a tactic to keep fans in the dark but we probably shouldn’t get our hopes up after that last tweet. It’s not clear who would voice Homelander if it’s not Starr.
