Mortal Kombat 1 has four different types of currencies that you can use throughout the game. They include Koins, Seasonal Kredits, Krowns, and Dragon Krystals. While some are relegated to specific modes, one is designated as premium currency. Dragon Krystals can be obtained in a variety of ways, but first and foremost, they're meant to be purchased. If you're looking for ways to obtain Dragon Krystals and what you can use them on, read on.

What are Dragon Krystals?

Dragon Krystals are a form of premium currency that you can purchase with real-world money in the Mortal Kombat 1 Store menu. They can be used for purchasing premium items, including gear, palettes, Fatality tokens, and other goodies that aren't otherwise unlocked organically by playing through Mortal Kombat 1.

They'll rotate out on a daily basis, so if you're interested in buying items, you can keep checking back each day for new goodies. This is one way to ensure you get some of the more unique cosmetic items, though it'll cost you more money than simply using what comes in the base game.

Purchase Dragon Krystals with real money

The most reliable way to get Dragon Krystals in Mortal Kombat 1 is to purchase them with real-world money through the Store page. You'll be directed to the storefront on the game platform you're playing as, and you'll need to spend cash to obtain them. Here's what you can expect to pay:

  • 500 Dragon Krystals - $4.99
  • 1250 Dragon Krystals - $9.99
  • 2700 Dragon Krystals - $19.99
  • 5900 Dragon Krystals - $39.99

You can expect to pay anywhere from 300 or more for premium cosmetics. It'll get pricey very quickly if you want to buy multiple items, so if you're on a budget, it might be a good idea to skip buying Dragon Krystals and earn them if possible.

Complete the Story Mode

You don't have to spend any money at all to earn Dragon Krystals in Mortal Kombat, though it won't be very many. Completing the Story Mode will net you some rewards, including a new character, a new stage, additional gear, and 500 Dragon Crystals. That's about $4.99, but it should get you at least one item from the Premium Item store. Just don't expect that you'll get a complete costume.

Buy the Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition

If you purchased the Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition, you should get 1,250 Dragon Krystals, or the same amount you'd get for $9.99 in the Store. While this won't get you too far if you're hungry for items, it's better than spending an additional $10 on top of the money you already paid for the game. That is, of course, you pre-ordered. If you don't have this edition, the base Mortal Kombat 1 will not have any Dragon Krystals in store for you.
