10 Disney Movies We'd Want to See in the Disney x Fortnite Multiverse
The Walt Disney Company has announced a massive collaboration with Epic Games, including a $1.5 billion investment to acquire an equity stake in Epic Games for a "multiyear project" in Fortnite. Does this mean Mickey Mouse is in Fortnite? Here's what we know so far and the Disney properties we want to see in Fortnite.
Disney is no stranger to video games, including Fortnite. The Marvel collabs are some of the most popular in Fortnite history and Star Wars has also become a prominent presence in the battle royale. This time is different, however.
According to a press release, the project looks to be creating a "new persistent universe" within Fortnite, allowing fans to play, watch, shop, and engage with Disney-related characters and stories.
Will Pixar Characters Be in Disney Lorcana?
This Fortnite metaverse will have popular characters and properties from Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel, Avatar, and more. The exact details are still unknown, but the trailer shows characters from Cars, Indiana Jones, Frozen, Marvel, and more participating in various Fortnite game modes.
There's also a look at an island that appears to have a ton of different locations based on Disney IPs. This island has areas dedicated to Wreck It Ralph, Marvel, Monster's University, and more. You can also see Stitch's spaceship flying overhead. Here is who we hope will be featured in this epic crossover.
Lilo and Stitch
Stitch is just such a fun character with his incredible strength and destructive nature. There are so many fun possibilities there. Mixed with the concept of aliens hiding within the otherwise beautiful island of Hawaii, I can see a lot of fun game modes and chaotic antics with this property.
Alice in Wonderland
This world would just be so trippy. Having the chance to explore this drug-induced dream would be such a wild concept. Imagine your character becoming bigger and smaller, or having to take down the evil Queen of Hearts.
Coco
There is no world more vibrant and visually stunning than that of Coco. Whether it's his family's community with its glowing lights, cobblestone pathways, and colorful decorations or the neon Land of the Dead, Coco has some of the best world-building in Pixar history.
A Bug's Life
This is a classic! There's so much to work with here, too. The entire storyline feels like a game, with Flick going on a journey to find warriors to take down the crickets. Everywhere he goes looks larger than life despite being something as small and seemingly insignificant as a soda can. The characters are all so dynamic, including the truly horrifying villain.
The Lion King
It's a no-brainer to include The Lion King in Fortnite. We all remember its game for Sega Genesis, right? That game wasn't even that great and we loved it so imagine the potential in Fortnite. There are so many unforgettable and iconic locations, whether it's the spooky Elephant Graveyard or the colorful jungle where Simba hides with Timon and Pumba. There's a lot to work with here, whether it's the beloved characters or the tragic storyline.
Zootopia
You're welcome, furries! Imagine playing as Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, solving crimes, arguing, falling in love. Okay, pretend I didn't say that last part. But honestly, Zootopia is the perfect backdrop for a ton of awesome game modes or just a chance to be social and hang out with other animals in a colorful, entertaining environment. You can also attend a Gazelle concert!
Disney Princesses
Imagine all the classic Disney princesses kicking butt in Fortnite. Having the chance to run around the classic battle royale as Cinderella, Belle, or Tiana while holding a weapon would just be awesome. Snow White with a Striker AR? Sign me up.
Classic Disney Characters
Similar to the Disney princesses, it would be a surreal experience to see Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, and Donald Duck duking it out in Fortnite. Picturing them blasting each other with grenades and guns is just hilarious. I'm not sure if Disney would allow this... But even some tame, social-based game modes featuring the classic characters in some way would be amazing.
Toy Story
As someone who enjoyed Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue (I'm old, whatever), I see tons of potential with Toy Story's world. Shrinking us down to toy-sized and then completing various challenges in Andy's house, Pizza Planet, and beyond would be awesome times infinity. There's so many fun characters to be as well. Running around as Rex? Racing as RC? There are so many awesome possibilities here.
Monster's Inc
It looks like this could be confirmed in the teaser on Twitter but I already had this on my list and I'm keeping it. The dynamic and creative world within Monster's Inc would be incredible to explore. Bringing the action into Monstropolis or into Monster's Inc. (the company) itself would be a dream come true. Playing as Mike Wazowski would be even crazier. The attention to detail in this IP lends itself to unlimited gameplay opportunities and I'm excited to see what we will get to experience.
