The Apex Legends Global Series is back with the ALGS Split 2 Pro League! On March 11th and 12th, over 150 teams from around the world will play their first matches to kick off eight weeks of competition to determine who gets to attend the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs. Only 40 of those 150 teams will make it and here’s everything you need to know for the North American teams vying for a spot.

Locked In

Thanks to their performance in the ALGS Split 1 Playoffs, there are several teams who have already locked in their invitation to the Split 2 Playoffs. The Champions of TSM and the 2nd and 3rd place runner-ups, NRG and Acend, all earned their spot in the playoffs, so expect fierce competition from them during the ALGS Split 2 Pro League.

There are also four other teams who earned Playoff Points to guarantee them a spot in the Split 2 Playoffs and they’re XSET, Alliance, Moist Esports and ONIC Esports.

ALGS Pro League Format

Here’s how the ALGS Pro League format works: each of the five regions (NA, SA, EMEA, APAC-S and APAC-N) has 30 teams that are seeded into three groups of ten teams based on the Split 1 ALGS Playoffs and Split 2 Qualifiers. The teams will compete in a double round-robin format playing each group three times and the series consists of six games each. This regular season team play will consist of 36 games in total from March 11th until May 7th.

Following these 36 games, each team will be ranked by their Post Match Series Points and the top 20 teams of the 36 games will play in the Regional Final. The Regional final will use the Matchpoint system but still grant Post Match Series Points.

The final standings will be determined by rankings in the Post Match Series Points, with the top 10 teams and the winner of the Regional Finals advancing to the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs.

ALGS Playoff Distribution

The Playoff slot distribution is determined in part by the results of the Split 1 Playoffs performance, so if a region did particularly well in that competition, they would, in turn, earn more spots for that region as a result.

The ALGS Split 2 Playoffs regional distribution is

  • North America: 11 teams will qualify for the Split 2 Playoffs, including the winner of the Regional Finals and the top ten teams ranked by Regular Season points.
  • EMEA: 10 teams will qualify for the Split 2 Playoffs, including the winner of the Regional Finals and the top nine teams ranked by Regular Season points.
  • APAC-North: 9 teams will qualify for the Split 2 Playoffs, including the winner of the Regional Finals and the top eight teams ranked by Regular Season points.
  • APAC-South: 5 teams will qualify for the Split 2 Playoffs, including the winner of the Regional Finals and the top four teams ranked by Regular Season points.
  • South America: 5 teams will qualify for the Split 2 Playoffs, including the winner of the Regional Finals and the top four teams ranked by Regular Season points.

Prize Pool

In addition to earning their way into the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs, which has a $1,000,000 prize pool on the line, the Split 2 Regular Season has a $500,000 prize pool for the winners.
