Destiny 2: The Final Shape Release Date
Bungie has confirmed that the release date for The Final Shape is June 2024.
Destiny 2: The Final Shape was originally expected to come out February 27, 2024, but development said they needed more time to ensure it’s “bigger and bolder.” The Bungie layoffs in October are probably another factor, slowing down production.
There will be a content update between February and June called Into the Light to help prepare players for the upcoming journey.
What Platforms Will The Final Shape Be On?
Destiny 2: The Final Shape will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. It will most likely not be on the Game Pass for Xbox players, however.

What We Know About The Final Shape Gameplay
We actually got to see some of The Final Shape gameplay at the Destiny 2 showcase back in August 2023. From what we saw, it’s taking place in a destination called Pale Heart full of terrifying regions that have been impacted by the Witness. As you navigate these regions, you’ll learn of a new enemy, the Subjugators, which have Stasis and Strand powers.
A new Super ability is also coming for each Class. Void Titans will be getting Twilight Arsenal, Arc Hunters are getting Storm’s Edge, and Solar Warlocks will get Song of Flame. Other systems and features are in store in The Final Shape, but the development team is keeping them secret for now.
Expect more gameplay details in April of 2024.
Is Destiny 2: The Final Shape The End?
Some gamers are worried that The Final Shape is the end of Destiny 2 content since it will conclude the Light and Darkness storyline. But developers have confirmed: The story will continue.
But things will change. Since 2019, Destiny 2 has had seasonal updates. After The Final Shape, however, Destiny 2 will switch to Episodes. Bungie hasn’t shared what the new content and storyline will be after The Final Shape.
