The International 2023 is the biggest Dota 2 tournament of the year — it may even be the biggest esports tournament, period. The 20 best Dota 2 teams in the world will come together at The International 2023. Here’s everything you need to know about this epic event.

International 2023 Dates & Schedule

In late June, Valve confirmed that The International 2023 will start on October 12, 2023. This is a few days earlier than what was announced back in May.

The schedule is now:

  • Group Stage: October 12-15
  • Playoffs: October 20-22
  • Finals: October 27-29

The current tournament format has not been revealed. In the past, the teams were split into two round-robin groups for Group Stage. For now, Dota 2 esports fans will have to await an official post from Valve.

Location

The International 2023 is being held in Seattle, Washington, nearby Valve’s headquarters. This is the first TI to be held in North America since 2018. Seattle was the location for two past TI events: 2012 and 2017.

The exact location is the Climate Pledge Arena. This iconic location was opened in 1962 for the World’s Fair. It holds around 17,000 to 18,000 people.

Will There Be Tickets?

Tickets for The International 2023 are not on sale yet. However, there will be tickets for anyone who wants to attend TI23 in person in Seattle.

TI 2023 Prize Pool

Every year, Dota 2's The International is known for its massive prize pool. From 2015 onward, The International has had an increasingly massive prize pool that’s partially paid for by battle pass purchases. The International 2021 broke records with a prize pool of almost $40 million.

The past few years, however, Valve announced that there would be no battle pass for The International. This is reflected in the prize pool. Last year, TI22 had an $18.9 million prize pool, which is still incredible.

This year should have a similar amount of cash on the line, with almost half going to the winning team.
