A Star Wars Event is Coming to Fortnite — And It Could Bring the Force
After months — even years — of speculation and rumors, a Star Wars event has been confirmed to be coming to Fortnite.
Epic Games announced that a Star Wars event would be coming to Fortnite along with the rest of Patch 24.30. The trending tweet shows Anakin Skywalker dramatically walking towards the screen with his lightsaber by his side.
Epic Games didn’t specify what would be coming with this event, however. Luckily, there are dataminers for that!
What to Expect When Star Wars Comes to Fortnite
Just in time for May the Fourth, a Star Wars event is coming to the crossover-hungry battle royale. Earlier this month, a leak pointed to the Star Wars event but no details arrived just then. Fans started whispering about the possibility before Chapter 4 Season 2 even began.
Now, within the game’s files, dataminers like HYPEX have uncovered some interesting details about the highly anticipated event. The trusted leaker claimed that the crossover event will come with Mythic weapons, multiple skins, and Force Mythics.
This points to new abilities and skills, which were also part of recent collaborations like the Smashes in My Hero Academia and Kamehamehas from Dragon Ball Z. A Force-related mechanic is definitely what Star Wars fans have been waiting for.
Fans are also hoping for Venator-class Star Destroyers, which are shown flying above Anakin in the teaser image. But no Star Wars-themed vehicles have been confirmed by Epic Games just yet.
One thing gamers don’t want, however, is a lightsaber. Competitive players have often complained that holding a lightsaber significantly slows down their building abilities, which could mean the difference between victory and elimination. The weapon is also underwhelming in combat in most instances, making it even more useless to hold on to.
Unfortunately, the lightsaber is usually added every May the Fourth update.
When Is Star Wars Arriving?
Fortnite fans should expect to see the Star Wars event on May 2, 2023.
This event is just in time for May the Fourth, the unofficial day dedicated to all things Star Wars. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is also coming out soon, making this a great time for Star Wars to do a promotion like this.
