Most Watched Twitch Categories of 2023
2023 was a big year for Twitch Streamers, with many new faces and games making their way to the front page of Twitch. We’re going to take a look at the most watched Twitch categories in 2023, and see which games people were watching.

10: Apex Legends
Apex Legends had 400,107,919 Hours Watched in 2023, a big drop of 39.2% compared to 2022. However, it remains in the Top 10, with streamers such as TSM ImperialHal, Nickmercs, and iiTzTimmy all streaming Apex Legends for a large part of 2023.
9: World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft had a slight increase in viewership in 2023, being up 7.2% compared to 2022. With over 437 million Hours Watched in 2023, streamers such as Maximum, Sodapoppin and Summit1g topped the World of Warcraft category.
8: Dota 2
Dota 2 had over 550 million Hours Watched in 2023, a 3.5% increase on 2022. Streamers such as Nix and Gorgc dominated the category. However, most of the Dota 2 hours watched in 2023 come from the esports competitions.
7: Minecraft
Unsurprisingly, Minecraft makes its way into the Top 10 most watched game categories on Twitch in 2023. With over 583 million hours watched, it was streamers such as Cellbit, xQc and Auronplay who topped the category.
6: Fortnite
Fortnite had a massive increase in peak viewers in 2023, being up over 221% compared to 2022. This is largely due to the return of OG Fortnite, and the release of Fortnite Festival and LEGO Fortnite. Clix topped the category in 2023, while Ninja, NickEh30 and SypherPK also streamed a lot of Fortnite.
5: Counter-Strike
Counter-Strike had over 686 million hours watched in 2023, however almost all of this time comes from the esports competitions, with ESLCS, BlastPremier and relog_ru topping the category. There were some top streamers in the CS category though, with Gaules, ohnePixel and fl0m all featuring in the Top 10 Counter-Strike channels.
4: Valorant
CS fans won't like to hear it, but Valorant dominated in hours watched in 2023 with over 988 million. Again, this was largely due to esports tournaments, but streamers such as Tarik, Kyedae and s0m were also seen at the top of the Valorant category.
3: League of Legends
League of Legends is the first category on the list to break a billion hours watched, with over 1.32 billion in 2023. Otplol_, NoWay4u_Sir and Baiano topped the category, but the esports channels of Riot Games and LEC also brought in a lot of viewership.
2: Grand Theft Auto V
Grand Theft Auto V Role-Playing continues to dominate Twitch, having the second most hours watched in 2023 with over 1.33 billion. A number of Brazilian streamers topped the category such as LuquEt4, while Japanese streamers such as fps_shaka also featured in the Top 10.
1: Just Chatting
Unsurprisingly, Just Chatting was the most watched category on Twitch in 2023 with over 3.1 billion hours watched. KaiCenat topped the category with over 87 million hours watched of his own, while HasanAbi, xQc and iabi also dominated the Just Chatting section.
